Currently investing from a £200 million fund

SEP enjoys an excellent reputation amongst institutional investors in private equity funds.  Since inception we have raised approximately £600 million across five separate funds. Our latest £200 million SEP IV fund was raised from a blue chip limited partner base including global financial institutions, asset management companies, pension funds, family offices and corporates. A number of our limited partners have consistently supported us from our very first SEP fund and value our professional approach to fund management. We are a responsible investor and adhere to environmental, social and governance principles. For full details please see our Responsible Investor Statement.

Environmental Energies £95 million Fund (EEF)

We have expanded our investment range by partnering with FTSE 100-company SSE plc to raise a £95 million secondary fund focused exclusively on clean tech companies.  The fund has attracted investment from four blue chip financial institutions, headed by Lexington Partners – the world’s largest independent manager of secondary private equity and co-investment funds with $20 billion under management. The syndicate also comprises UK based funds  Hermes GPE and F&C Private Equity, as well as Swiss-based Partners Group.

EEF holds a portfolio of nine companies from across the cleantech sector, has substantial fresh capital available to support these companies and could add up to a further five SSE investments to the portfolio in future.  Focusing on EEF are SEP partner Gary Le Sueur, who has a strong background in energy related investments and investor relations, and Tony Robison, formerly Chief Financial Officer at SEP-backed oilfield technology company MTEM and more recently at Gas2 in Aberdeen.

EEF will complement our existing energy related portfolio which includes companies such as Arkex, Atraverda and Deep Casing Tools.
