Gigle achieves US product breakthrough with Belkin

Gigle Semiconductor, a world leader in multimedia home networking solutions, has achieved a major commercial milestone with the launch of the world’s first Gigabit Home Networking Chip by networking specialist Belkin.

Belkin selected Gigle’s innovative networking chip to power its Gigabit Powerline Networking Adapters which have just been launched in the United States and which are due to launch in Europe in August.

The new product offers consumers an easy and reliable way to enjoy multi-media entertainment around their homes, downloading high definition content across existing wires at speeds which are five times faster than any rival product.

Juan Carlos Riveiro, President and CEO of Gigle Semiconductor said: “Belkin is one of the leading innovators in the emerging entertainment-grade HD home networking space, and we are pleased to have collaborated with them on a very exciting product for online HD movies, gaming and other exciting multi- stream video networking applications.”

SEP Partner Stuart Paterson said: “This is an important milestone for Gigle. Demand for high-speed multi-media networking solutions is rising as online gaming, picture storage and internet music and videos from the likes of Apple iTunes, iPlayer and Hulu become increasingly popular.”

Paterson added:” Gigle’s advanced technology results in a product which has five times the throughput for less cost, resulting in the best-performing and highest quality HD picture. Gigle is very well-placed to capitalise on growth opportunities. Its technology is simple to install and use, it uses existing wires, and it delivers a significantly faster and superior performance than rivals.”
