Oyster 3G landmark boosts ipaccess

SEP portfolio company, Cambridge-based ipaccess, has achieved a major strategic milestone: its Oyster 3G femto technology now powers more than half a million access points, deployed in homes, offices and mobile network hotspots worldwide.

CEO Simon Brown said: “This is an important milestone … this is real traction and real movement forward. For the industry it shows that small cells are important and that traction is here. For us as a company it shows that we are playing a very active role in this industry and that we actually have a leadership position to play.”

Brown expects sales growth to continue as mobile operators increasingly look to small cells as a means of increasing network capacity to cope with increased data traffic, with an anticipated doubling in the figure in the next 12 to 18 months.
