Flight comparison company Skyscanner, which is backed by Scottish Equity Partners, scooped the overall Venture Capital Backed Management Team of the Year award at the British Venture Capital Association management team awards at London’s Lancaster Hotel on 5th July.
Also successful from the SEP portfolio were intelligent IT analytics company Sumerian, which collected the Scotland and Northern Ireland regional Community and Environmental Action award, and pioneering biotechnology company Biovex, which was named as the Venture Capital-Backed Management Team of the Year for London and the South East.
The awards are the culmination of a year-long process of regional and national nominations and judging established to highlight and celebrate the achievements of private equity and venture capital backed portfolio companies.
Mark Florman, Chief Executive of the BVCA, added: “The management teams here tonight represent the best our industry has to offer, their companies have not only survived the recent economic turmoil, but positively thrived. These are the only awards in the country which celebrate the achievements of companies that are backed by private equity and venture capital, and ultimately it is their performance which makes our industry thrive. Congratulations to all the winners.”
Managing Partner of SEP, Calum Paterson commented: “The quality of management is one of the key drivers in our investment decision-making and a pre-requisite for growth and success. We are delighted to see some of our portfolio companies being recognised at these awards.”
