Skyscanner soars to new heights as growth accelerates

The flight search engine specialist, Skyscanner, has accelerated its international expansion, recording strong sales growth, signing new partnership deals and picking up two prestigious awards.

The company increased year-on-year revenue by 75% to £15.2m in the financial year to May 31. It signed a partnership deal with Facebook, giving the social media company’s 750 million users access to a flight search tool on Skyscanner’s Facebook page. Russian airline Aeroflot is now a partner and Skyscanner partnership’s manager Dmitry Konovalov commented: “Russia is hugely important for us – it is our second biggest market and Aeroflot obviously recognises the benefits of working with us.”

Overseas visitors to Skyscanner’s site now represent 75% of traffic; Russia accounts for more than one million visitors per month and strong growth has also been recorded in Italy, Spain and France. The company has also opened a new office in Singapore to take advantage of opportunities in the Pacific Rim.

Skyscanner CEO Gareth Williams has picked up two awards in recognition of the company’s achievements, including a Technology Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Ernst & Young.
