Calum Paterson
Calum Paterson is SEP’s Chairman & Senior Partner.

Calum Paterson co-founded SEP in 2000, leading its launch, development and growth as Managing Partner before becoming Chairman & Senior Partner in 2025. He chairs the Partnership Board and Investment Committee, and is responsible for the strategic leadership and oversight of the firm.
He has been investing in growth companies for more than three decades, and has worked closely with the boards and leadership teams of many SEP portfolio companies over the years, including the global travel technology business, Skyscanner, where he was a member of the board of directors.
Calum trained as a Chartered Accountant with EY. He holds BA(Hons) and MBA degrees from the University of Strathclyde, where he currently serves as a Senior Enterprise Fellow. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland’s national academy of science and learning. He is a former Chair of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA), the industry body and public policy advocate for private capital investment in the UK.
