Calum Paterson is SEP’s Managing Partner and has led the firm since its inception. He is chairman of the SEP investment committee and works across the firm’s offices in London, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Calum sits on the board of a number of SEP portfolio companies and was a member of the board of directors at travel-search company Skyscanner, prior to its £1.5 billion acquisition by Ctrip at the end of 2016.
Calum has worked in the private equity and venture capital industry since 1991. He trained as a Chartered Accountant with the global professional services firm, Ernst & Young. Calum has BA and MBA degrees from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland’s national academy of science and learning.
In addition to his responsibilities at SEP, Calum is currently Chairman of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) for 2018/19 and sits on the BVCA Council. The BVCA has over 700 members, including over 300 fund managers and 120 institutional investors. and represents the interests of the industry across the UK.
