Calum Paterson

Calum Paterson is Managing Partner and has led the firm since its inception.

He is one of the UK’s leading venture capital executives, with more than 25 years’ experience in the industry. Calum is chairman of the SEP investment committee and has overseen its investments in more than 150 companies. He works across the firm’s offices in London, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Calum is currently a non-executive director on the boards of fintech companies Totally Money and Zuto. He was also a member of the board of directors at Skyscanner, supporting its growth into a global business with over 60 million unique monthly visitors and over 800 staff, prior to its £1.4 billion acquisition by NASDAQ-listed Ctrip in December 2016.

He is currently Vice Chairman of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA), which represents the interests of over 250 private equity and venture capital firms across the UK. He is also a director of Artemis AIM VCT plc and a member of the GlobalScot network.

He has BA and MBA degrees from the University of Strathclyde, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
