With investment from SEP, Skyscanner grew from a UK founder led ‘no frills’ flight search business into one of the most trusted and most used online travel brands in the world. Through its proprietary technology platform, unique value proposition for partners and relentless focus on product, consumer experience and trust, Skyscanner scaled from 28 people to more than 800 during the course of our investment.

As the largest shareholder and lead investor in Skyscanner we enjoyed a close relationship with management and worked with the founders to develop the senior team including the appointments of CTO, CFO and COO. We supported internationalisation through M&A activity and the opening of 10 global offices across the US, China, Europe and Singapore.

As well as being heavily involved in corporate strategy which saw the company’s revenues grow from less than $1m to over $230m during the course of our investment, we also played a significant role in the 2016 acquisition by NASDAQ listed Trip.com for £1.5bn.
